2012 Seattle Hiroshima Club Scholarship Recipients

This year we had a single recipient of the Seattle Hiroshima Club Scholarship who was presented to the membership at the annual New Years’ luncheon held on January 21, 2012.

Elissa Hee-Jun Lee is the daughter of member Masako Murakami Lee, and is a current student at Shorecrest High School. In each year of high school, Elissa’s academic pursuits have included at least two designated Honors/Advance Placement courses. Over the years Elissa has been a member of the school’s swim and math teams, and the National Honor Society. With her talent in music, Elissa played with one of the groups in the Seattle Youth Symphony program, and continues to play in the school’s symphonic orchestra.

Out of school, and during the last two years, Elissa was selected to serve on the Lake Forest Park Youth Court. Also she volunteers at Nikkei Manor, as well as the FIUTS organization.

Her hobbies include playing the violin, swimming and memorizing Kanji. At this time Elissa is undecided in the major she will pursue, but is considering a possible future in International Business.
