UW Day of Remembrance

Saturday, February 22, 2025. UW Nikkei Student Union Day of Remembrance will be held at Intellectual House on the UW campus which can be accessed via public transit or by car. Free parking is available on Saturday afternoon in the Padelford Garage and N6 lot on campus. Admission to the event itself is free, and we will be offering food catered by Sam Choy’s for a fee of $8.

The event will feature several speakers and performers, including an introduction from Vince Schleitwiler from the UW American Ethnic Studies department, talks from Ann Kaneko, director of the film Manzanar, Diverted: When Water Becomes Dust, and Tsuru for Solidarity, as well as a performance from UW Taiko Kai! We will also be folding origami cranes as a symbol of peace with help from the UW Origami Club. We are so honored and excited to have each of these impactful groups/individuals at our event.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Make sure to RSVP and reserve refreshments.
