Our Mr. Matsura

Saturday, October 3, 2026.  There will be a free community screening of Our Mr. Matsura, a documentary created by independent filmmaker Beth Harrington held at the Nippon Kan Theatre on Saturday, October 3rd.

Settling in rural Okanogan County, WA in the early 1900s after immigrating from Japan, Frank Matsura became the region’s leading photographer. Well-known for his charming and playful photographs of the diverse peoples living in the area along with unconventional self-portraits, Matsura was a beloved member of the community who built bridges across cultures and left a lasting legacy that is still remembered within the region today.

Doors open at 1 PM. Opening remarks and the film will begin at 1:30 PM. A Q & A session and reception with light refreshments will follow the screening. RSVPs are required.
